I'm in an open marriage & went on a date to Hawaii while my husband stayed with the kids, my daughter didn't want me to | The Sun

A WIFE has revealed the truth about being in a polyamorous marriage.

She went on a date to Hawaii with a partner other than her husband, despite her daughter asking her not to.

TikToker @openlycommitted detailed the intricacies of her open marriage in a video on the social media platform.

She responded to a question from a viewer asking how she went on a date in Hawaii with another partner as a married woman with kids.

"My husband and I have been in a non-monogamous relationship for 13 years, and I'm only away for three nights.

"But what we told the kids is that I'm traveling to Hawaii and my daughter didn't really blink an eye except to say that she didn't want me to go.

"That she wanted to come with me, and then I would have to bring her home at least one stuffie," she added.

Her mother, however, didn't respond to the situation as sweetly as her daughter.

"My mother on the other hand, gave me the evil eye when she heard this on FaceTime because I think she probably knew I was off with somebody else besides my husband.

"And when my daughter told me that she was sad and my mom was kind of making faces at me, I did feel a little bit guilty.

"But I reminded myself that if I was going to Hawaii for three days on an independent girls trip, like a surfing trip or a yoga retreat, I wouldn't feel guilty in the slightest.

"Traveling like this gives me energy and joy. It is an escape. An escape of everyday life.

"And I have so much gratitude and appreciation for the fact that I get to do this, that I get to go hiking to a gorgeous waterfall," she added, recounting the story by the waterfall.

She said that she's not apologizing her her lifestyle and wants to set a good example for her children.

"As far as my kids are concerned, I'm going on a trip for me. And that is something that I want them to grow up knowing is OK," she said.

"And I know for many women, the surf trip or the yoga retreat, that is an amazing opportunity to kind of reset and to have a moment for yourself, no matter what that moment is, especially if you're a mom.

"I hope you get to do it without any guilt whatsoever," she added.
